“Get it right before the flight!” Iron clothing carefully before placing in the suitcase or garment bag so the only wrinkles you need to worry about are the ones caused by folding. Upon arrival at your destination, a travel steambrush or compact iron is all that is needed to remove those light wrinkles.
Choose the appropriate luggage:
-
Hard luggage offers greater protection for packed clothing, yet is inflexible when it needs to be squeezed into a tight, awkward storage area such as an overhead compartment.
-
Soft luggage doesn’t provide the same protection but does offer greater flexibility around the sides and can accommodate last minute additions more easily. It is also more manageable in difficult-to-fit spaces.
-
Garment bags are ideal, the clothing rests in the luggage in a similar manner to being hung in a closet. The tighter the clothing fits into the garment bag better. Choose a garment bag with several zippered compartments to hold additional items such as undergarments, shoes and toiletries.
